Flovac consolida su presencia en IGY Málaga Marina con un sistema eficiente y sostenible

At Flovac, we are proud to announce the commissioning and full operation of the vacuum wastewater collection system installed at IGY Málaga Marina, majority-owned by Ocean Capital Partners. This project reinforces our commitment to providing sustainable and operationally efficient solutions for world-class marinas.

Awarded in March 2022, the system is now fully operational on Piers 1 and 2 of the marina. It has been designed to deliver a fast, clean and fully integrated wastewater disposal service, seamlessly fitting into the port’s daily operations. Some of its key technical features include:

  • 635 meters of vacuum pipeline, enabling continuous collection along the berthing areas.
  • A single vacuum station, which centralizes vacuum generation and optimizes both operational and maintenance costs.
  • Pipelines installed above the water table, avoiding the need for complex underground civil works and reducing infiltration risks.
  • 18 strategically located connection points along Piers 1 and 2, allowing vessels to discharge directly from their berth without the need for mobile tankers.

These features make the system at IGY Málaga Marina a safe and efficient solution for direct onboard wastewater discharge. It eliminates the reliance on tanker trucks and minimizes odors and sanitary risks. The configuration—sealed vacuum network and above-ground pipes—also brings clear energy and maintenance advantages: fewer pumping stations, lower consumption, and a simpler, more reliable operation.

For the marina, implementing the Flovac system represents a tangible improvement in the experience for captains and yacht owners, as well as a more environmentally responsible management approach. For Flovac, being part of this project is a source of great satisfaction: we have provided a technical solution that is already contributing to the daily efficiency of one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious nautical facilities.
