Marina Port Vell appears on Yachting Pages as the sixth top elite superyacht marinas worldwide. Inaugurated in 1992 on the occasion of the Barcelona Olympic Games, this marina was remodeled over 6 years ago with a Flovac vacuum sanitation system to house the world’s largest yachts. Specifically, it currently has the capacity to house megayachts of up to 190 m in length. Today, Flovac’s vacuum sewerage and its endurance continue being an innovative system that wonder those who moor their yacht in Port Vell, Barcelona. Therefore, it has been awarded the remodeling of the facility.

The hose is attached from the yacht to a pedestal and automatically discharges wasterwater.

The key for the success of the Flovac system in this luxury marina is the regular updating of the vacuum sanitation. Our relationship with the client has always been optimum and they keep counting with us for maintenance and for upgrading the vacuum installation with the newest technologies and trends of the sector.

For this reason, this February 2023 we have been awarded the new remodeling of the facility, specifically, the vacuum sanitation part. This data shows the value of our system and makes us very proud.

Besides that, the endurance of the vacuum sanitation is obvious, as it is capable of managing grey and black water from luxury yachts over 100 m length. It is the first marina in the world having a connection point for each berth. This means that it is only necessary to attach the hose to the yacht and to activate the automatic system to discharge waste water.

Remodeling and resistance of the Flovac system

The vacuum station installed by Flovac allows yachts to have both wastewater and bilge service, in addition to collecting other wastewater from buildings, toilets and showers located in the same complex, without the need for deep excavations or intermediate pumping.

Another great advantage of this system is that the pipe network is under negative pressure. This is why the installation can be placed in the same place as the water or electrical supply. In this way large excavations can be avoided in the port. In the event of a breach in the pipeline, there would be no discharge into the sea, only air would enter the system, giving the appropriate alarm in a matter of minutes.

The vacuum network is equipped with a remote control system, Flovactronic. This allows the operators to know exactly everything that happens in any point of the sewage network. This new software has been designed to control the discharge of wastewater from yachts to the Marina. Furthermore, Flovactronic is an essential tool for the endurance of the system. Thanks to it, we can solve any issue before it becomes a problem, as we can supervise the system in real-time.

At FLOVAC we have several years in the sector that support our experience as leaders in vacuum sanitation.
