The Barcelona-based company, an international leader in vacuum sewerage systems, will collaborate with the Federation to provide specialized solutions in port sanitation, MARPOL compliance, and environmental monitoring to associated marinas and yacht harbours.
Marinas de España has signed a collaboration agreement with Flovac, a Barcelona-based company specialized in the design, installation and operation of vacuum sewerage systems. Under this agreement, Flovac joins the Federation as a Main Partner, with the aim of contributing to improved sanitation management across Spanish port facilities.
The management of wastewater and bilge water remains one of the most complex operational challenges for concessionaires managing marinas and yacht harbours. Requirements arising from the MARPOL Convention, the need to ensure discharge traceability, the protection of water quality within harbour basins, and increasing environmental regulatory pressure demand technical solutions adapted to the specific characteristics of port environments, where conventional sanitation systems present well-known limitations.
“Sanitation is an area where many of our ports still have room for improvement and specific needs. Bringing Flovac on board as a Main Partner allows us to offer our members the expertise of a company that has been working specifically in port environments for decades and that fully understands the technical and regulatory challenges faced by operators,” said Tomás Azcárate, President of Marinas de España.
Flovac, present in more than 40 countries and certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, specializes in vacuum sewerage systems — a technology that enables the collection of wastewater and bilge water from both vessels and onshore facilities. This solution offers clear advantages for port environments, including minimal civil works, elimination of leakage risks into the marine environment, and monitoring and traceability capabilities that facilitate compliance with MARPOL Convention requirements.
“For us, it is a great satisfaction to collaborate with Marinas de España and engage more closely with the sector as a whole. Marinas and yacht harbours are environments where our technology can provide real solutions to everyday challenges, and this agreement gives us the opportunity to do so in a close and tailored way, adapted to the needs of each facility,” said Bruno Galindo, Commercial Director of Flovac.
As a Main Partner, Flovac will participate in the Federation’s publications, events and activities, making its expertise available to marina and port professionals throughout Spain.
Flovac is the world's leading vacuum sewerage engineering, supplier and operation company.
